Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Fire and Evacuation Simulation Engineer with hands-on experience in PyroSim (FDS) and Pathfinder to perform fire dynamics and occupant movement simulations for buildings and infrastructure projects. The candidate will support fire safety design, performance-based analysis, and regulatory compliance studies.
Key Responsibilities
- Product presentation and support simulations software PyroSim (FDS) for:
- Smoke movement
- Temperature distribution
- Visibility and toxic gas spread
- Fire growth and suppression scenarios
- Perform evacuation and crowd movement analysis using Pathfinder, including:
- Travel time and egress capacity studies
- Bottleneck and congestion analysis
- Behavioural and movement profile modelling
- 3D geometries preparation from:
- AutoCAD / Revit / BIM models
- Architectural floor plans
- Define boundary condition
- Fire sources and HRR curves
- Ventilation and boundary conditions
- Detection and suppression systems
- Validation of models based on:
- NBC / NFPA / local fire codes
- Engineering assumptions
- Understanding of technical reports including:
- Input parameters
- Simulation results
- Graphs and contour plots
- Safety conclusions
- Coordination with fire
- Fire consultants
- Architects and MEP engineers
- Authorities for compliance submissions
Proficiency in:
- PyroSim (FDS solver)
- Pathfinder evacuation software
Understanding of:
- Fire dynamics
- Smoke control systems
- Human behavior in fire emergencies
Experience with:
- AutoCAD / Revit (geometry import)
- MS Excel / technical documentation
Knowledge of standards:
- NFPA (e.g., NFPA 101, NFPA 92)
- NBC (India) or equivalent fire codes
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in:
- Fire Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Safety Engineering
- Basic CFD knowledge (mesh, boundary conditions, convergence)
- Familiarity with:
- FDS input files
- Performance-based fire design
